Port St. Lucie Florida Homes For Sale - Florida Waterfront Real Estate
|
Port St. Lucie, Florida Real Estate offers unsurpassed golfing, boating, sportfishing and recreational
diving with beautiful year round weather and twenty one miles of spectacular ocean beaches in beautiful South Florida
along the Treasure Coast. Port St. Lucie, one of the Sunshine State’s fastest growing communities, was founded in 1970.
Thirty three years later, the city now encompasses eighty square miles of beautiful land and navigable waterways. Currently,
only half of Port St. Lucie's eighty square miles is developed,
leaving lots of opportunity for expansion and growth. The lush greenery along with the
Atlantic Ocean to the east and the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, where portions of the James Bond movie Moonraker
were filmed, have long attracted fishermen and vacationers alike. These amenities proved
to be very attractive to prospective residents as well. In 1970 Port St. Lucie had only 300 residents. Today, more than
100,000 people live here. As a burgeoning society, Port St.
Lucie’s future is bright. Projects such as St. Lucie West, a master planned community with residential, commercial, and
industrial areas encompasses seven
square miles in a multi-billion dollar project which includes the PGA Golf Village and the New York Mets Spring home
at the Thomas J. White Stadium in St. Lucie West.
The stadium is also the home of the St. Lucie Mets, a Class A baseball team associated with the Florida State League.
New hotels, motels and a world-renowned family-oriented Club Med are right here in Port St. Lucie. Educational
opportunities also
abound in Port St. Lucie. St. Lucie County Public
Schools excell in education as do the higher education institutions. Indian River Community College (rated one
of the top in the country),
Florida Atlantic University, and Barry University
all have local campuses in either Port St. Lucie or St. Lucie County. It's no wonder that St. Lucie West is listed
among the top ten planned communities in the United States.

The PGA Golf village is the winter headquarters for the Professional Golf
Association (PGA) which owns and operates three golf courses, i.e. seventy two holes of championship golf courses designed
by Nick Fazio. The PGA Village is a spectacular golf facility with a golf school for the novice as well as the advanced
golfers who want to fine tune their golf game.
There are also exceptional tennis facilities at the PGA Golf Village. Homes, condos and townhouses in St. Lucie
West range from the medium price range to luxury homes on the golf courses and waterways, all with beautifull landscaping
that is professionally
maintained in a private gated community. The exceptional grooming and well maintained community is reminiscent of either
Sea World or Disney World. St.
Lucie West provides convenient access to either I-95 or the Virginia Turnpike. St. Luice West is an unincorporated
community of Port St. Lucie, both of
which are located in St. Lucie County, one of the fastest growing areas in Florida. St. Lucie County is centrally
located along the Treasure Coast of Florida.
Miami is 120 miles to the south while Orlando is 120 miles to the north.

Port St. Lucie real estate provides many waterfront homes to choose from along the
North Fork of the St. Lucie River which empties into the Indian River
near Fort Pierce and provides access to the open ocean through either the Fort Pierce Inlet or the Stuart Inlet via the
Indian River and the Intracoastal
Waterway. The Intracoastal Waterway extends over 3,000 miles from Boston, Massachusetts to Key West, Florida. Port St.
Lucie real estate provides
a wide variety of priced homes to choose from, from beginner homes to golf course homes or luxury waterfront homes on
the ocean, there is a wide
selection to choose from in this diverse community. Ocean condos on the beach overlooking the ocean are also available
on Hutchinson Island which separates the Indian
River and the Intracoastal Waterway from the Atlantic Ocean. The Indian River and
Hutchinson Island, one of the three barrier islands which makes up the Treasure Coast, provide some of the most
spectacular waterfront
properties in the State of Florida.

In regards to attractions, Port St. Lucie is only a few minutes drive from the
ocean via Fort Pierce or Jensen Beach, both of which provide causeways to
Hutchinson Island and the Atlantic Ocean beach. There are several public beaches along Highway AIA which extends along
the ocean coast of Hutchinson
Island. Many locals refer to the section of Hutchinson Island south of the Fort Pierce Inlet as the "South Beach"
while the portion of Hutchinson Island
which is located north of the Inlet is referred to as the "North Beach." This area of the Atlantic Ocean, between
Hutchinson Island and the Bahamas, is
considered to be the Sailfish Capital of the World. The Fort Pierce City Marina boasts the best fishing in Florida.
From Fort Pierce or Stuart Inlets, the
Bahamas are only a few hours by boat through the Gulf Stream which flows north and provides World-Class Sport Fishing
for tuna, Wahoo and billfish.
Infact, Bimini, one of the islands in the Bahamas located just fifty miles east of Miami, claims to be the Big Game
Fishing Capital of the world.
St. Lucie County is blossoming with modern subdivisions, light industry, and up-to-date agribusiness stimulated by a
rapidly increasing population. St.
Lucie’s major cities are Fort Pierce and Port St. Lucie. As land becomes less and less available in South Florida,
people will continue to migrate north
insuring that Port St. Lucie real estate will continue to appreciate and provide steady appreciation in value.

The nearby ocean harbors of Sebastian, Fort Pierce &
Stuart all have protected Inlets. Of these Inlets, Fort Pierce is the most accomodating for larger vessels with a
large Fort Pierce City Marina which is home to the popular Pelican Yacht Club, one of the most prestigious yacht clubs in South Florida. There
are over 240 slips, nice restaurants, and downtown access within a short walk from the Fort Pierce City Marina. Known
as the Sunrise City, Fort Pierce boasts the best fishing in Florida. Recent
news articles appearing in the Fort Pierce
Tribune & Other Treasure Coast Newspapers reveal that competing yacht builders are in the process of purchasing about
eighty acres to build a mega-yacht facility in
the Fort Pierce Harbor. The Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, a
Smithsonian
facility, the unique Underwater Demolition-Seal Museum
and Manatee Center are popular attractions located in the Fort Pierce area.
Disney World, Sea World, Nasa Cape Kennedy Space Center & many other attractions in
the Orlando area are one and a half hours drive to the north while the West Palm Beach International Airport is a half
hour
to the south. Miami is one and a half hours drive to the south. Tampa Bay and Busch Gardens Animal Theme Park is about two and a half hours drive northwest of the
Treasure Coast. The Florida
Everglades National Park is located about two hours to the south.

Directly east of the Treasure Coast are the beautiful waters of the
Bahamas, only a few hours away by boat and
just a hop and a skip by plane. Aside from being a popular tourist destination, the
Bahamas provide excellent fishing,
particularly for world-class tuna and wahoo in the Gulf Stream which flows north between
the Treasure Coast and the Bahama Islands. The Bimini Islands, a famous sportfishing and tourist community
only fifty miles east of Miami in the Bahamas, is considered the
Game Fish Capital of the World. Key West and the Carribean Islands are just a short
flight from the Treasure Coast. Sport fishermen and charter boat captains of Fort Pierce and Stuart claim
that the ocean waters off the treasure coast between Florida and the Bahamas represent
"The Sailfish Capital of the World!" More sailfish are caught in this area of South Florida along the Treasure Coast
during the winter months than anywhere else in the world.
The southern tip of Hutchinson Island, immediately north of the Stuart inlet, is appropriately named Salfish Point.
Aside from providing world-class sportfishing and scuba diving, the South Florida Treasure Coast provides excellent
boating and treasure hunting opportunities. The Treasure Coast receives it's nick-name from the
Spanish fleets which wrecked in 1715 & 1733 depositing their sunken treasures along the eastern coast of Hutchinson
Island. For the recreational divers as well as the commercial divers, treasure hunting is a multi-million dollar industry
along the Treasure Coast.
